Funky Friday heads to New York City for Empire State of Funk, tracing the groove from Harlem and Brooklyn to Queens and the Bronx with Jimmy Castor, Mandrill, Cameo, Chic, Fatback, Tom Browne, Grandmaster Flash, Bobby Womack and more. Five boroughs. One groove.

The groove is gospel in Funky Friday’s Episode 28: Ministry of Funk. We open and close with a tribute to Eddie Palmieri’s Harlem River Drive, the Latin-funk masterpiece that broke boundaries and moved bodies. In between, it’s an hour of funk sermons from James Brown, Parliament, Tower of Power, and more — a full-on service for the disciples of the groove.
