The Funky Friday city tour lands in Washington, D.C., where funk evolved into a rhythmic language of its own. Episode 86 traces the road to go-go through Chuck Brown, Trouble Funk, Rare Essence, E.U., Black Heat, Sir Joe Quarterman, Osiris, and more.

Funky Friday heads to New York City for Empire State of Funk, tracing the groove from Harlem and Brooklyn to Queens and the Bronx with Jimmy Castor, Mandrill, Cameo, Chic, Fatback, Tom Browne, Grandmaster Flash, Bobby Womack and more. Five boroughs. One groove.

Funky Friday Episode 60 will air on March 27th with a cinematic concept guiding the hour. This broadcast will move like a film, where each track builds a scene and every transition carries intention. Some of these songs were used in Quentin Tarantino films. Others simply feel like they belong. The difference will not always be obvious, and that is the point.

Funk De Fuego II will honor Willie Colón through brass, rhythm, and lineage, tracing the connection between Afro-Caribbean salsa, boogaloo, and horn-driven funk before closing with warmth and range.

This week on Funky Friday, we turn up the heat for Scorpio season — a one-hour dive into funk that stings back. From Betty Davis to Morris Day, it’s a journey through attitude, transformation, and the magnetic pull of the groove. Hosted by Renegade Chronicles & KDOG Radio, where the rhythm gets deep and the funk gets dangerous.
